My New Fridge

For six months last year my refrigerator sounded like a jet plane coming in for a landing.  It leaked water.  It didn't keep food cold enough.  It was dying.  I researched refrigerators on the Internet.  I went to Home Depot, Lowe's and Sears. I got confused. What do I know about buying a refrigerator!!!  I measured and remeasured. I researched and re-researched.  I revisited the stores.  I was even more confused.  In late December it died.  I decided to go  with Sears.  I walked into the appliance department and made my way to the refrigerators.  A sales person approached and asked very politely, "Do you need any help?"  Like  a mad woman, I yelled at her, "My refrigerator died! Do not let me leave here without buying a refrigerator!"  I thought I detected a slight smile flicker across her face.  I told her that I wanted either a side-by-side or a French door refrigerator.  I gave her the measurements of the space where the refrigerator was now, of the doors the new refrigerator would have to clear coming into the house, and then told her if we could not find a refrigerator to fit the space we could put the refrigerator up against the other wall.  I then proceeded to tell her what I did not want in a refrigerator.  I did not want an in-door ice maker. I did not want any objects hanging from the ceiling inside the refrigerator taking up space in the interior of the refrigerator.  I did not want an LG.  I wanted big on the inside and small on the outside.  I wanted glass shelving which could be adjusted to different heights. She immediately went into high gear. She  ran up and down the different isles measuring and checking and finally narrowed it down to four refrigerators.  Two side-by-sides and two French door models.  I decided against a side-by-sides and that narrowed it down to the two French door refrigerators.  What was the deciding factor? The brand name ...  Kenmore. Big (25 cubic feet) and beautiful.  It was delivered a few days later and I have never been happier.  I am constantly in the fridge.  I love being in it.  It keeps everything so cool.  The light is so white and bright.  It is a white one and am I  ever happy that it is.  The urge to go with stainless was squashed by the $300 additional dollars they wanted for stainless.  White is nice! It is very nice! But the most amazing part . . . is that this fridge will cost an estimated $61 a year to run.  You heard me.  Not $61 a month, but $61 a year!!! Do you know how much electricity I am going to save with this refrigerator.

T-Moble (The Joys of Modern Technology)

I have been a T-Mobile subscriber for many years and very satisfied with the level of support that I have received in the past.  But lately (at least two-three months) I cannot reach a live representative from my cell phone when I call them.  I get the automated system and when it tells me that it will transfer me to a representative, I get cut off immediately.  What did I do?  Are they angry at me.  If I call from a land line I can get through, but, I don't always have access to a land line or even on-line?  It is so frustrating.  I think one of the reasons that I stayed with T-Mobile for so long was that I was able to get help, easily and correct any problem situations that I had with my cell phone.  Ah, What Do I Know.

Oh, and did I mention that my "smart phone" is really a "smart alec phone"?  It likes to make me look stupid.  The joys of modern technology.

Dell, Dell, What the Hell

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron laptop with a 17" screen. I love it.  But, recently my touch pad locked and my mouse would not move.  What Do I Know, I thought it was a frozen screen problem so, I took the battery out and started it up again.  As long as I wasn't "signed" in my mouse moved but the moment I signed on and got to my desktop a bubble would appear on the lower right hand side of my screen saying, "Your touch pad is locked".  What do I know, I thought I was being punished and therefore locked out purposely by a higher power.  So since the major "support" Dell provides is on-line, I was totally locked out.  So, I got onto Dell's support site on line via my smart phone.  It asked me for my Service Tag. OMG who ever thought up to put the Service Tag and the Express Service code on the under side of the laptop is "diabolical", they should die and forever rot in hell, and could they make the type any smaller?  Why not invisible.  After entering my Service Tag on their website via my cell phone I then proceeded to go around in circles.  No, I needed a live person.  I finally located an 800 number on my packing slip and after arguing with the automated response system, I finally, thank G-d, got a sweet female voice that was the product of a living person.  After all that I notice a little key on my keypad up at the top near the "F" buttons and it looks a lot like my touch pad with an "X" on it.  So while I am talking to this sweet female voice I press that key up at the top of my keypad and guess what it "unlocks" my touch pad.  Oh, what do I know.

The Joy of Netflix

Having had a bad experience as a Block Buster customer I refrained from even trying Netflix.  But, my daughter being 1/3 my age, inexperienced, daring and naive, decided to try the 30-day free trial.  So, we received two DVDs in the mail (doesn't matter how long you keep them, there is never a late fee) and she watched movies on line.  So, far it seems pretty simple, straight forward and a no brain-er.  The hardest thing is making up your mind which movie to watch; they have so many to choose from. Of course, the only thing they have left to do is become a social network.
